There was a great hidden camera vid someone got into the warehouse that supplies petco w/ animals. female bunnies were FORCED to mate, others where spayed by people that are not vets and were not anesthetized during the operation, birds and reptiles dead everywhere. Very sad.

pet stores around where I live are good they do over crowd cages but that’s it I go in there back rooms all the time and there are no dead animals accept for the snake food which are killed humanely

  • @hermitcrabstuff34 . ya your prob wright

  • HermitGuy101 says:

@SodaBoyAtLarge that sucks. at mine they take great care of their animals. i’ve done advanced research, even laws my state has for animals and i’ve seen nothing wrong. you could’ve just bought a sick gecko. or your shop was truly dirty.

  • Maybe they should just shut all these pet outlets down,
They are complete cruel un loving species of humans ,
    Get these shut down.
I bought a hamster from an uk pets at home ,never again, it had wet tail with our gentle care and vets meds, our sammy survived, he looks alot more healthier then we think he did when he came home from shop .
At least he will have a loving warm home with us and we will be treating him very well , maybe a bit on the spoilt side with love and affection

@Peaches70380 Agreed, like I said in my last comment, they should not treat it as such a stereotype. The Petco i got my hamster from is very healthy and lively, so were the other animals in the store.. nothing close to poor living conditions. Depends on the store.

@hermitcrabstuff34 I bought a hamster from petco and she is a very young, healthy, happy hamster. I have to say that i dont think -all- pet stores are like this. In my area, the pet co is really good.. All of the animals are healthy, no over population in the store, and each cage is very clean and the employees seem very educated and aware. So yes, the pet co in the bay area might be like this, but the one in the area near me is fine. This is kind of stereotypical.

  • i got a baby guinea pig at petco when he just got there so he was vary helthy

  • I baught a lepaurd gecko it died in half a month :(

  • our store is good. i dont know bout other petcos

I have both a wonderfuly clean PetCo with healthy animals AND a Petco that is nasty and the animals all look sick…It’s all about finding the pet store with healthy animals, and support that store.

  • Peaches70380 says:

I wouldn’t judge every Petco or any other pet store by a few bad stores. Check the conditions of your selected store before buying any animals from them. If it’s a clean store then buy…if not, then go somewhere else that is. It’s not hard to glance around at a few cages/tanks before getting a pet. My local Petco and Petsmart have always looked pretty clean (nothing like this at least).

  • ITSTHETINGLE says:

i wonder if they did alameda

  • You cannot judge all petcos by a few. The petco sin the pa area treat their animals very well they all get the proper care the cages are cleaned daily as well as fresh food and water. any animal that comes in sick is taken to the vet immediately I think its more the employees than the company itself. For it to truly work the employees them selves must truly put the pets first. Sometimes you get these asshole kids working that dont give a shit about anything. Thats where the real problem lies

  • nbvkd says:

thank god my russian tortoise is still alive. i got him 8 years ago from petco and he’s still alive and in full health. damn you petco. your good for supplies, not animals

  • bought a bearded dragon their and a few days after the 15 day (very small frame of time) warntee was up it got sick. I took it to the vet and he said it had internal paracites and he had seen 3 die from that from the same petco. Later that day it died. I took it to the store and told this old depressed looking manger about it and he denied the other ones dying from it even though i went to the vet they contract with and told me he couldn’t do anything without even a simple sorry.

@mmmmmmmmyum I agree, I have a local petshop (local as in not a corporation) and all their ferrets looked healthy and happy, when I went to Petco guess what… their ferrets were uncared for and well… sad. Lol, I don’t have enough space to provide a good description in this comment >.>

  • my petsmart is a great one they littrly treat animals like gold

  • Syberel says:

Fuck petco and petsmart always the same crap. They just wan’t to make money they don’t give a crap about the animals.

  • Omg this is apaulling!!!!

  • mmmmmmmmyum says:

No it doesn’t..no pet stores do…They all do the same thing and get their animals from the same place..Look it up “petsmart animal abuse”..All pet stores abuse animals…There is only one exception, your local ones..They take good care of them because they aren’t a corporation and is just owned by a single person..

  • bridge939 says:
